Marine Environment Awareness Course

The Australian shipping industry is committed to improving environmental performance on a continuous basis.  ASA believes that by fostering an appreciation of how shipping impacts on the environment, through a greater level of understanding, a superior level of environmental protection can be achieved.

These principles are fundamental to the Marine Environment Awareness Course run in conjunction with BP Shipping.  The Marine Environment Awareness Course is designed specifically for seagoing staff but is open to shore based personnel from ASA member companies and other businessess servicing the shipping industry.  The course includes presentations and workshops on marine ecology and toxicology, atmospheric emissions, waste/marine litter, marine pests, sustainable shipping, the importance of image, values and acceptance by society.

The next course will be run in 2012.
