Industrial Relations

The ASA seeks to engage in activities in the industrial relations sphere that:

• Promote the interests of Australian shipowners and operators
• Promote increased competitiveness and quality of operations from a labour perspective
• Provide members with a focal contact point for industry wide industrial issues
• Encouraging policies that prevent unwarranted industrial disputation
• Influences HR policy and regulation in the industry
• Enables ASA members to access international regulators (International Maritime Organization and International Labour Organisation) and organisations (International Shipping Federation, International Maritime Employers’ Committee)
• Provides up to date information to operators covering a range of industrial relations issues
• Advises members in dealings with Fair Work Australia and other regulatory bodies
• Engages  in broader industry negotiations
